There are 22 veterans that commit suicide every day. Outdoor Salute To Veterans Inc. (OSTV) strives to reduce these numbers by taking disabled veterans on outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, rafting, rock climbing, and camping. These activities get veterans out of a clinical setting into the healing properties of the great outdoors. We also promote the social welfare of the participants by interacting with other veterans and volunteers. We focus on helping veterans overcome adversity they may be facing.
OSTV is an all-volunteer 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization, which means all of your donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. OSTV is funded through donations from patrons and businesses organizations like yours. It costs an average of $600.00 per veteran for a week-long trip. Our slogan is “Veterans focusing on ABILITIES not disabilities”. This golf tournament will be an annual event that is being developed as an income stream to help fund the financial requirements of OSTV. All veteran excursions are at no cost to the veteran.
“Hello my name is Mark Yearsley. I am the Executive Director for Outdoor Salute to Veterans Inc. Outdoor therapy really works. Seven Years ago my right leg was amputated above the knee due to injuries I sustained while serving in our armed forces. I went into deep depression and lost all hope and purpose in life. It was because of someone with the tenacity to get me in the outdoors that I am still here today. Since then I have volunteered to take other veterans into the wilderness. I have seen restoration take place in many men and women. OSTV was formed to continue this restorative work.”
